These Three Celebrities From Media Industry Dared To Talk About Harassment After Meesha Shafi
For a woman, it takes a lot of courage to talk about harassment she faces or faced. Whether Meesha Shafi was right or wrong, it was a publicity scandal or not, yet it was BIG DEAL to do what she did. Many celebrities gave their views on Meesha Shafi’s stance. Some are favouring her, some favouring Ali Zafar, and some are neutral.
BUT undoubtedly, Meesha Shafi’s step has given many other women courage to speak up. These three renowned women from Pakistani Media Industry have come forward and talked about their painful experiences of life.
1. Ayesha Omer
Ayesha Omer talked about her experience of serious harassment in a show Lekin hosted by Geo TV. Although she said she wasn’t ready to disclose the details of harassment, but she said that someone from media industry harassed her very seriously.
She said in the show, “I hope I’m as brave as Meesha Shafi one day,” she continued “The thing is that it’s when people like Meesha come forward, that other people draw the strength to tell their stories.”
About Meesha, Ayesha said, “She’s getting all kinds of vulgar comments, angry reactions, accusations. And she’s lucky enough to have a supportive family. I know she’s a bold, outspoken woman and won’t stand for any injustice. But for her to still take so long to come forward… what about the all the other women who endure this and don’t have the strength to come forward — whether in their families or publically. If they don’t have strong examples like Meesha, how will they be inspired to gain a voice as well.”
About Ali Zafar, she said, “Ali Zafar’s one of the biggest actors in our industry, I’ve known him since childhood, he’s a friend of mine, but that doesn’t mean anything. If there is no proof of [what he’s been accused of], Ali has a right to deny anything. i would do the same. But that doesn’t mean we can doubt the honesty or intentions of the accuser.”
2. Momina Muhtehsan
Momina Muhtehsan, the adorable coke studio sensation says that the kind of harassment she went through, was bigger than Ali Zafar. She says,
Regarding Ali Zafar, she said in a tweet,

Another name from Pakistani media industry, Leena Ghani shared her views about Ali Zafar in these words,
Thank you @itsmeeshashafi for your courage and your bravery. It’s never easy. But that should never silence us. I am in total solidarity with you. You are not alone in this because #Metoo #TimesUp #WeBelieveYou pic.twitter.com/hkQ61bqnFH

The situation is still unclear. We cannot say whether Ali Zafar or not. Ali Zafar says that he will take Meesha Shafi to court for the allegations. Maya Ali supported Ali Zafar quite positively.
Lets see what happens next. But I must say that this incident is first of its kind in Pakistan’s media industry. In short, After Meesha Shafi, we have seen other women talking about the serious case of harassment as well. It gives us shocks everyday as the female celebrities that we think live a perfect life, have sad side too.
