6 Nostradamus predictions that ‘came true’
As 2017 has ended and everyone is searching for a way to get a peek in the new year. This guy can surely help you out.
Cue Michel de Nostradame (or Nostradamus) also called Les Propheties, a French physician and astrologer from the 16th century. He wrote many predictions about the world and sometimes even hundreds of years into the future. He wrote the predictions in four line poems. The poems were published in 10 volumes and each one is referred to as a ‘century’.
Nostradame died in 1566 and hundreds of years after his death, some people believed that he predicted the French revolution, World War Two, and the 11 September attacks on New York City.
Here are 6 predictions of Nostradame that have linked to actual events, few are far in the past and some are closer to our time.
1. DEATH OF HENRY II
The young lion will overcome the older one,
On the field of combat in a single battle;
He will pierce his eyes through a golden cage,
Two wounds made one, then he dies a cruel death
King Henry II of France died in 1559 after Gabriel accidentally killed him during a game of joust. They both had lions on their shields. It took him 10 days to die.
2. THE RISE OF HITLER
From the depths of the West of Europe,
A young child will be born of poor people,
He who by his tongue will seduce a great troop;
His fame will increase towards the realm of the East.
Adolf Hitler was born 20 April 1889 in Western Europe. Hitler moved to Germany a few years later and rose to fame in part due to his furious speeches.
3. THE ATOMIC BOMB
Near the gates and within two cities
There will be scourges the like of which was never seen,
Famine within plague, people put out by steel,
Crying to the great immortal God for relief.
In 1945 America dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
4. THE SEPTEMBER 11 ATTACKS
Earthshaking fire from the center of the Earth
Will cause tremors around the New City.
Two great rocks will war for a long time,
Then Arethusa will redden a new river
We all witnessed the disaster that turned many lives upside down.
5. DONALD TRUMP
The great shameless, audacious bawler,
He will be elected governor of the army:
The boldness of his contention,
The bridge broken, the city faint from fear
A stretch? Maybe. Or maybe it is him, given that in addition to being President, Mr Trump is also the Commander-in-Chief.
6. A WEAKENED WEST
Twice put up and twice cast down,
the East will also weaken the West.
Its adversary after several battles
chased by sea will fail at time of need.
This could be related to tension between America (west) and Russia (east).
